Alice Aylett-Swain-Driscoll (1864-1920)

Alice Aylett was born on 24th November 1864 [1864Q4 Romford Vol: 4a, Page: 109], and her mother (the informant) gave an address of Seven Kings, Ilford. As a spinster Machinist aged 23 residing at 12 St Mary St., Kingsland Rd she married James Swain (1862-1893) a bachelor Coke Cutter aged 24 residing at 12 St Mary St. on 22nd August 1886 [1886Q3 Bethnal Green Vol: 1c, Page: 144]. His father was given as Edwin Swain a Labourer, and her father as John Aylett a Carman. The witnesses were Joseph Thornton (believed to have maried Alice's sister Sophia) and Harriet Swain who was James' younger sister.

She had the following children:

James Swain died on 22 Nov 1893 and about ten months later, infant James Oscar Swain died, 25/Sept/1894 aged 18 months.

Her second marriage was to Dennis Driscoll (1857-1912), but no record of this marriage (probably around end 1894) has yet been found.

She had the following children:

Her parents were John Aylett a bachelor aged 26 Carman of 23 New Inn Yard, Middx who married Maria Barker a spinster aged 22 Servant residing at 4 Hodge Place on 1st November 1859 at the Parish church [1859Q4 Shoreditch Vol: 1c, Page: 155]. John Aylett's father was given as John Aylett a Carman (deceased) and Maria Barker's father as Benjamin Barker a Carman. The witnesses were Richard Hunnell?, and Mary Ann Barker (possibly her mother?).
John Aylett later married a widow Mary Ann Flexon in 1883 [1883Q1 Bethnal Green Vol: 1c, Page: 177].

Alice died on 21st May 1920 at 3 Raine St. She was described as aged 55 and a widow of Dennis Driscoll a Stevedore. Her address was 7 Dundee Street Wapping.
Dennis Driscoll, a labourer of 21 Pentonville Road, Clerkenwell died age 56 on 11th March 1912 at Holborn Infirmary.

James Swain's parents were Edward Swain and Mary Ann Wright (1829-??) who were married in St Andrews church Bethnal Green on 30 Oct 1848.
Dennis Driscoll's parents were James Driscoll (1832-??) and Bridget ??-Driscoll (1833-??)
Alice Aylett's parents were John Aylett (1833-??) and Maria Barker (1834-??)
