George SHANNON (later Easterbrook) (1873-1967) was born on 28th April 1873 in the Greenwich Union
Workhouse to Kate Shannon and registered as George Shannon
[1873Q2 Greenwich Vol: 1d, Page: 812]. His father's name is not recorded.
He may have merely assumed the surname Easterbrook and the second forname from his
George Edmond Easterbrook (1853-1886?)
on going to school and thereafter always considered it to be his correct name.
Certainly no record has been found recording a change of name from Shannon to Easterbrook.
He died in the autumn of 1967 [1967Q3 Greenwich Vol: 5b, Page: 367].
In the 1881 census George Easterbrook aged 9 is recorded as a lodger at 45 Butchers Row Deptford in the household of Nathaniel Nottage and family. His mother and step-father are recorded separately.

As a bachelor "Labourer" at the age of 26 , George Edmond Easterbrook living at 3 Greenfield Road Deptford married in St Lukes Deptford, London on 7th September 1900 Phoebe Eliza Smith (1877-1957) a spinster aged 22 living at 28 St German's Hill, Forest Hill
The witnesses were Edward Ealy (his new step father when his mother remarried in 1895) and Eliza Alice Bennett. His father was given as George Edmond Easterbrook deceased; her father Walter Smith is described as a Bricklayer.
They had the following children:
