Joseph Haley (1811-1862)

Joseph Haley (1811-1862) was baptised on 20 Jan 1811 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England to father William Haley. [Source Citation: England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906].

He was an engineer and his first patent was granted in 1837. In 1840 he was granted a patent for a lifting jack that he manufactured himself. For a time he was in partnership with William and Joseph Galloway, an important engineering company. Unfortunately, he later went bankrupt.

Joseph Haley's parents were William Haley (1781-1856) and Jane Hirstwaite-Haley (1782-1867).
Her baptism record 4th August 1811 at Manchester Cathedral [Source: England, Births and Christenings, 1538-1975," index compiled by the LDS FamilySearch (] gives her parents names as Henry Lees and Rachel.

He died on 22 Jan 1862.
His wife died on 24 Dec 1874.
