He had another family (with his former secretary?) Florence Alice Hamshaw (1896-1952) in London with more children, who had little or no knowledge or contact with the first family. He died at 301 Byron Road, Wealdstone Harrow on 6th November 1946 some three years before his wife Alice Emma(1873-1949). His son Gerald Murgatroyd tried to report to his father the death of his first daughter Gladys Murgatroyd not knowing that Arthur Haley Murgatroyd had died some three weeks earlier. This conversation was not understood by Arthur Hamshaw Murgatroyd and the phone call was terminated by Gerald Murgatroyd who said he was just a friend. Arthur Haley Murgatroyd's death aged 75 was reported by his son A.H. Murgatroyd at the same address. His death certificate [1946Q4 Hendon Vol: 5f, Page: 27] records him as an Admiralty Clerk- his occupation in WW2. No Probate was sought at his death - perhaps his estate was too small to require this? This family comprised:

Marriages found in BMD:
The older children of his legitimate family (specifically Alma and Dorothy) remember the better times before their father left home when money was not a problem - see the family picture of the marriage of the eldest sister Gladys, and the picture of the marriage of Dorothy. The younger children remember more clearly the poverty in which they were brought up - see the picture of two of the younger children with an altogether older looking Mother.
