John Rigg (junior) is the brother of James Rigg(1816-1883). born 8th January 1796, christened 7 Feb 1796 at All Hallowes Staining, City of London to John and Mary Rigg - father Hairdresser, mother: Davis, abode: Fishmonger Alley [source: London, England Baptisms, Marriages & Burials 1538-1812, City of London, All Hallowes Staining 1794-1815]
In about 2004 I transcribed various records from microfiche at an LDS centre. One record (see below) cannot be confirmed with the London, England Baptisms, Marriages & Burials records now (in 2009) available from ancestry.com. I am assuming it is false but the original suggestion from my grandmother from her memory of the family must contain some truth. What was the connection with Mary Morgan, I wonder? The erroneous record was: John Riggs (sic) married Mary (Morgan?) 30/6/1816 at London St Katherines Coleman (LDS ref: C040931 film 4917)
My grandmother originally suggested that the partner of John Rigg (senior) was a Mary Morgan. I wonder whether she associated the wife of the son with the father. Also since John Rigg (senior) died in 1829, was it possible that the young James Rigg(1816-1883) spent some early years with his elder brother's family.
John Rigg died aged 74 in Bethnal Green, London [1870Q1 Hackney Vol: 1b, Page: 302].
John Rigg's parents were John Rigg (senior) (1763-1829) and Mary Davies.
