Harriet Thompson-Rigg

Harriet Thompson-Rigg (1883-1970)

Harriet Thompson was born on 16th August 1883 at 15 Colingwood Street Ratcliffe, London, UK and died aged 87 in the third quarter of 1970 in Bickley, Kent, UK [Bromley, Vol: 5a, Page: 848].
She married Alfred John Rigg (1899-1955) on 11th August 1913 [MileEnd 1913Q3 Vol: 1c, Page: 730] and had two sons. The firstborn, Alfred John, was born in 1914, and the second, George Alexander, was born on 30 December 1915 and died exactly two years later of Bronco Pneumonia & Whooping Cough. The picture (left) was taken at the marriage of her brother George Thompson (1876?-??) in about 1908. The family picture below must have been taken in mid 1917 before the infant death.

Harriet Thompson's parents were John William Thompson (1852-??) who was recorded at the birth as a "Engineer's labourer" and his first wife Margaret Eleanor Allcock (1850-1898).

Margaret Eleanor Allcock died aged 48 in Stepney [Stepney, Vol: 1c, Page: 313] when Harriet Thompson was around 15 years old.
John William Thompson and Margaret Eleanor Allcock were married on 21/12/1873 at St Philip the Apostle, Stepney [Mile End, Vol: 1c, Page: 1114]. Harriet was the third of their four children.

Harriet Rigg was my paternal grandmother.
